About Us
The Arabian horse galloped across the desert sands in the dawn of the morning, the sun beginning to burn over the horizon, his mane and tail flowing as if God Himself were blowing the wind through the stallion's mane and tail...the stallion's eyes, black as coal, luminous, mesmerizing, liquid...sighting his herd of mares in the distance...as he gallops closer, closer,
bugling his arrival...
the ground trembling under the power and speed of his gallop...
finally he arrives at the side of his mares...
his master dismounts, gives him a handful of almonds, strokes his neck, removes his saddle and bridle, and leaving the stallion, enters his tent.

The mare who just foaled is inside the tent, resting with her foal and the Salukis at her side. The master gives her camel's milk and what little sparse grass he was able to find that morning...it was worth the long ride through the dunes. The foal, breathtaking. A new generation to carry on the future of the breed. The stallion's luminous eyes, flaring nostrils, and amazing long high-set neck are vibrantly apparent in the foal, the legs, strong and straight, the coupling short and tight, the angles, perfection, the bone clean, refined... and the action! Oh, the action. When the foal pranced, it danced. Floated. Trotted strong but flowing, tail flagging indicating its self-confident poise...knees coming up so high it appeared to be performing a ballet...and the Bedouin knew that God had blessed him with this foal, these horses, his life..

ASA Farm is a childhood dream come true. Cheryl Showah of ASA Farm has been breeding Arabians since the early 1970's, pure Polish Arabians since 1983, producing National Champions in English Pleasure and Pleasure Driving, and Regional Champions in Park. Cheryl has her M.B.A. in Financial Management from the Lubin Graduate School of Business in New York City, and an undergraduate degree (a Bachelor of Science) in Agricultural Business Management, Equine from Cal-Poly University at Pomona, CA.

Cheryl has bred National Champions, Regional Champions, and Top Fives in English Pleasure, Pleasure Driving, Park, Halter and Sport Horse in Hand. She has successfully shown in English Pleasure AOTR, Pleasure Driving, Western Pleasure AOTR, Native Costume, Halter and Side-Saddle. Semi-retired from the show ring, Cheryl still occasionally shows in English Pleasure and Halter.

“Some bloodlines are in jeopardy of being ‘blended out of existence’. Imagine the appetizer, entree, dessert and wine mixed in a blender before serving at a five-star restaurant! Arabian horse breeders need to recognize the importance of keeping pure strains separate in order to have outcrosses for the future. If the gene-pool is completely “inter-bred”, we risk losing the genetic strength available through hybrid-vigor when crossing two (relatively) unrelated strains of Arabians,” according to Cheryl, whom Gladys Brown Edwards referred to as a "devotee of the Arabian horse" for over 38 years and “a walking-talking pedigree dictionary.”

Cheryl's son, Skye, has studied at the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, CA, and is currently attending college in CT while furthering his music career. If you'd like to hear a sample of a song that he both wrote and produced, please see our youtube listings and watch the yearling video of COVENANNT ASA, as Skye wrote, performed, and produced the music entitled, "Covenannt's Theme".
