Alga was born at Posadowo Stud, Poland, in 1947. She came to Janow Podlaski Stud, via the Polish studs Nowy Dwor and Albigowa, in 1962.
Alga was the dam of Algier (1953) - exported to Sweden after many years as a performing circus stallion at Circus Knie in Switzerland, Algorina (1957) and Ala (1962) - both exported to the U.S.A., and Algonkina (1961) - important broodmare at Janow Podlaski Stud.
Alga's daughter Algonkina (1961) was a remarkable broodmatron. Algonkina was the dam of Algorab (1965) - US National Champion Race Horse, Allahbad (1967) - US National Champion Race Horse and Regional Champion in Halter and English Pleasure, Algomej (1973) - chief sire in Poland and Sweden, 1982 Swedish National and Polish National Reserve Champion Stallion.
