BEE BROOK FARM, ca 1790-1812, is located on over 50 acres, in one of the most beautiful and sought-after locations in Connecticut, the historic town of Washington Depot. Located just 90 minutes North of NY City, in an area famous for scenic roads, beautiful country lakes, bed &breakfast inns, wonderful restaurants, several vineyards on the "Connecticut Wine Trail", great shopping with many antiques stores within close proximity, Lime Rock Park nearby for car fans, prime "leaf peeping" in the Autumn, and even the famous Relaix & Chateau "The Mayflower Inn". Being within commuting proximity of New York City, makes it an economically viable area, as well.
Located within riding distance of Steep Rock Trail System as well as land trust areas suitable for riding, and great hiking trails by Bee Brook. The school district is award-winning, and boasts notable private schools as well as public. Private schools include Washington Montessori, The Gunnery, Kent School, Glenholme, South Kent School, Rumsey Hall School, amongst others. The public schools include Washington Primary, and the middle and high school, Shepaug Regional Middle and High School (Region 12), and boasts a "blue-ribbon High School". Local farms provide wonderful produce, organic milk products, hay, corn, farmer's markets have excellent produce, jams, local honey, etc. Interior designers and architects love this area for its beautiful colonial homes and remaining farms, several beautiful lakes provide recreation, and in general, it is a lovely place to set up home base.
Bee Brook Farm has stalls for 10 horses, about 20 acres of fenced pastures with four-board oak fencing, a 60' round-pen, and frost-free water hydrants in the pastures and barnyards. There is plenty of room for hay, tractor, equipment, and supply storage, as well as a three-car separate garage. The huge 1800's barn has a beautiful area which could be converted to an artist's studio or separate apartment. It already has a beautiful new chimney and full electric and water.
Due to my injury, we are moving South, as the winters are becoming increasingly difficult for me,
otherwise, I just think this is a beautiful area of the United States. Being within commuting proximity of New York City, makes it an economically viable area, as well.
